Bill MacPherson, CPA, CA


Bill MacPherson was born and raised in Victoria. After graduating from U.B.C. in 1976 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in both Finance and Urban Land Economics, Bill joined the Victoria office of Price Waterhouse in 1976 and obtained his C.A. in 1979. Bill started his own firm in 1980, and has steadily grown the practice over the years. Bill’s professional interests involve assisting Professionals and Owner Managed businesses dealing with incorporation, financial reporting,and tax planning issues. Bill also deals with corporate structures, financially stressed businesses, the purchase and sale of businesses, and Estate planning issues. Summers for Bill are enjoyed with family and friends at Shawnigan Lake, or at Madrona in Parksville. Bill enjoys fishing, yoga and scuba diving and has played in national championships in both badminton and golf. Bill’s ability to listen and understand his clients needs, together with his understanding of tax and financial issues, has placed him in demand with individuals and companies seeking his insightful professional advice.

Saare Adams, CPA, CA


Saare joined Bill MacPherson as an articling student in 2006 and obtained his professional designation in 2009 while articling under Bill’s guidance. Saare’s primary focus is on providing tax and accounting services for owner-managed businesses. Born and raised near Calgary, AB, Saare attended University in Texas on a golf scholarship for one year and then traveled west to attend the University of Victoria. He graduated with a B.Comm. degree in 2006 while playing for the varsity golf team during his time at UVIC. In 2011 & 2012, Saare completed Parts I & II of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-depth Tax Course.Outside of the office, Saare is married to lovely wife Mel and enjoys golfing as a member at the Victoria Golf Club. He also loves to ski throughout BC during the winter and spend time at his family cabin in the summer.

Professional Staff

Alanna Wrean, CPA, CGA

Alanna began employment with Bill MacPherson during 1997 after working for another Victoria accounting firm. She received her CGA designation in 1987 and grew up in Squamish, BC attending Capilano College and Simon Fraser University in Vancouver.In 1984, Alanna married Doug Wrean and they moved to Australia for 2 years, to pursue employment. They have lived in Fairfield since their return to Victoria in 1986 and they have 2 adult children.Alanna and Doug enjoy traveling and have enjoyed trips to Hawaii, New York, California and Alaska in recent years.

Huf McIntyre, CPA, CA

Huf joined MacPherson Adams in July 2015 after articling and working for another Victoria based accounting firm. Huf’s professional interests include assisting owner-managed businesses with operational consulting, accounting and tax services. Huf was born and raised in Victoria, BC, completing his Bachelor of Business Administration at Camosun College and subsequently completing his CA designation in 2012. Away from the office, Huf enjoys playing golf at Victoria Golf Club and volunteers as a director on the board of two, local non-profit organizations.

Michele Shabaga, CPA, CGA

Michele joined Bill MacPherson in 2006, and obtained her CGA designation in 1995. Her focus is on owner-managed businesses. Interests outside of accounting include spending summers at the lake, hiking, biking and spending the winters skating and cross-country skiing.

Patti Humphreys

Office Manager

Patti started with MacPherson Adams many years ago as part of the T1 Personal Tax Return team and in 2011 joined on full-time with the firm. Patti was born in Victoria and raised in a number of places as part of a Navy family and has now settled firmly in Sooke. Married to husband, Pat for 36 years, Patti is the proud mother of 4 children, Kristi, David, Alina & Jordan and the very proud grandma of 2 year old Charlotte. Patti enjoys knitting, sewing, reading, the Vancouver Canucks and of course, spending time with family.


D.O.G Designated Office Greeter

You’ll often find Walter sauntering around the office, greeting arrivals at the door, or keeping everyone company in the board rooms. These days, his time at the office is a bit limited as he’s got a new brother at home, but remember to bring a treat to the office for him and you’ll have a friend for life.
